Secure a Poké Ball Celebi from a historical origin
Poké Ball · Form
Why this matters
Poké Ball Celebi comes from Virtual Console Crystal, ended event distributions, or the Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disc. Crystal and the Bonus Disc can still produce new local specimens when the legacy access is already present, but that access can no longer be newly purchased. After Bank ends, no new specimen from either route can reach HOME.
Acquisition
Still available
Use an already-installed Virtual Console copy of Pokémon Crystal and complete its local GS Ball sequence. Alternatively, an original Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disc setup can still produce a Poké Ball Celebi locally. Also secure existing event specimens.
Requirements
Nintendo 3DS system with the Virtual Console version of Pokémon Crystal already installed, or an original Japanese GameCube Bonus Disc setup · Pokémon Crystal (Virtual Console), or the Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disc with a compatible Generation III game · For forward transfer: Poké Transporter, Pokémon Bank, and Pokémon HOME
Transfer path
- Pokémon Crystal (Virtual Console) → Poké Transporter, or Colosseum Bonus Disc → Generation III → IV → V → Poké Transporter
- Pokémon Bank
- Pokémon HOME
Secure a shiny Celebi from the Virtual Console version of Crystal
Shiny (Virtual Console origin from Crystal)
Why this matters
The Virtual Console version of Crystal unlocks its Celebi sequence locally, and Celebi can be Shiny there. The game can no longer be newly purchased, but an existing or redownloadable installation remains usable. Only this Virtual Console origin needs Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank; separate modern Shiny distributions are unaffected.
Acquisition
Still available
In an already-installed Virtual Console copy of Pokémon Crystal, complete the local GS Ball sequence, save before the Celebi encounter, and soft-reset until it is Shiny.
Requirements
Nintendo 3DS system with the Virtual Console version of Pokémon Crystal already installed · Pokémon Crystal (Virtual Console) · Poké Transporter · Pokémon Bank · Pokémon HOME Premium Plan
Transfer path
- Pokémon Crystal (Virtual Console)
- Poké Transporter
- Pokémon Bank
- Pokémon HOME
Modern alternative
Shiny Celebi was also distributed in a Pokémon Sword and Shield event between 2020 and 2022; those specimens do not require a transfer through Pokémon Bank.
