Secure a Spinda in Pokémon HOME via Pokémon Bank
Specimen from Pokémon Bank
Why this matters
A Spinda transferred from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME cannot be moved to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl. Conversely, a Spinda caught in those games cannot be deposited in Pokémon HOME.
Requirements
Nintendo 3DS family system · Pokémon Bank · Pokémon HOME Premium Plan

A Spinda already in Pokémon Bank
Steps
- Launch Pokémon Bank on your Nintendo 3DS and look for a Spinda you deposited earlier. Bank holds up to 100 Boxes of 30 Pokémon, so use its search and filter options rather than paging through them, and note which Box the Spinda is in.
- In Pokémon HOME on your Nintendo Switch, pick Move from the main menu — taking Pokémon out of Pokémon Bank needs a HOME Premium Plan.
- With a Nintendo 3DS at hand: choose Begin Move, Begin, Ready!, then Display to get a Moving Key. In Pokémon Bank pick "Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME", select the Boxes you want, press Y, confirm with Yes, and enter the key — it expires after three minutes.
- Without a Nintendo 3DS: link the Nintendo Network ID you used for Pokémon Bank to the Nintendo Account behind your Pokémon HOME, then choose Move, No Nintendo 3DS, Check and Begin — this moves your whole Bank at once rather than Box by Box.
Pokémon X · Pokémon Y
Location: Route 21 in Kalos
Requirements: Route 21 lies on the way to Victory Road, so you need all eight Kalos Gym Badges before you can get there.
Steps
- Catch a Spinda on Route 21. It turns up in the flower patches around level 50, but far more reliably in Horde Encounters, which put five level-26 Spinda in front of you at once.
- Launch Pokémon Bank on your Nintendo 3DS with that game, and move the Spinda out of the game's Boxes into one of your Bank Boxes. Remember which Box — the Nintendo 3DS move below works Box by Box.
Pokémon Omega Ruby · Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
Location: Route 113 in Hoenn — the route buried in volcanic ash
Steps
- Catch a Spinda in the tall grass on Route 113. At roughly a 60% encounter rate around levels 15–18 it is the most common Pokémon on the route, so this is the quickest of the catching options.
- Launch Pokémon Bank on your Nintendo 3DS with that game, and move the Spinda out of the game's Boxes into one of your Bank Boxes. Remember which Box — the Nintendo 3DS move below works Box by Box.
Pokémon Sun · Pokémon Moon · Pokémon Ultra Sun · Pokémon Ultra Moon
Location: Ten Carat Hill on Melemele Island
Steps
- Go through Ten Carat Hill to its innermost grassy hollow and catch a Spinda there — about a 10% encounter rate at levels 10–13 in Sun and Moon, and about 30% at levels 11–14 in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
- Launch Pokémon Bank on your Nintendo 3DS with that game, and move the Spinda out of the game's Boxes into one of your Bank Boxes. Remember which Box — the Nintendo 3DS move below works Box by Box.
Warnings
- Once a Pokémon has moved from Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME it can never go back to Pokémon Bank.
- A Spinda that reaches Pokémon HOME this way cannot be moved on to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl, and a Spinda caught in those two games cannot be deposited in Pokémon HOME at all.
- The "without a Nintendo 3DS" transfer option moves every Pokémon currently sitting in Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME at once — not just the Spinda you're rescuing. Make sure you're ready to move everything else in Bank too before you use it.
